Lessons from the mountains
The month in the mountains was an experience that will always hold a special place in my heart. Being immersed in such a uniquely beautiful way of living taught me so much - not just about the logistics of life off-grid, or the technicalities of construction work. It also taught me about community, slowing down and a lot of things about myself and the ways in which my brain works. ’Soak up every moment, every sunrise, every strange street - let it shape you in all the best wa

The rose quartz
The first day of the final week started with saying goodbye to some of the volunteers which was a strange experience yet one that I’m used to. Saying good bye to people you’ve known so intimately to never hear from them again had been quite a common occurrence in my life. The blue jumper
The first morning was spent in a trance for the beauty of the area around me and disbelief I was really here. It was my first time seeing the area in the light, the scary toilet shack I’d visited the night before looked much less scary. The working day I fumbled around, clueless of what to do and where to go but I got paired with my wonderful cabin mate - Chloe, who I spent the first week and a half calling Claire. We were tasked with stapling and I never knew it could be so
